For me, it’s like oranges and orange juice. Cucumbers and pickles. I tried to explain this to my husband recently when attempting to watch the Walking Dead on Netflix. I’m not sure why I hate scary movies but love Halloween but I just do.
With the oranges and cucumbers, I know it’s psychological. When I was little, I thought the pulp was trash and wouldn’t drink it. I don’t like cucumbers… just don’t. The same with movies or TV shows with overly scary characters, gross slasher scenes. Just DON’T like it at all but I love Halloween! I love dressing up, all the cool things to put in your house. Jack-O-Laterns, the orange and black of practically everything to put in your house and wear. I just adore it but I can’t sit through an episode of Walking Dead or any other overly scary movie.
This doesn’t include vampires. I love any story involving a vampire or dracula that isn’t Twilight! :/ *shrugs* Gimme the Bram Stoker’s, Anne Rice Vampires over ugly Robert Patterson and what’s that girl’s name any day! So if it’s a bloodsucker movie, I’ll watch; I was even able to stomach Dusk Until Dawn with George Clooney. Err, who wouldn’t watch that movie to see him, right?
There were a couple of other movies I could handle but I won’t take the time to mention them. They’re few and far between. Regardless, I love Halloween, absolutely enjoy it immensely. Just don’t put me near any haunted houses anytime soon.
