I love Halloween! I love the spooky stuff (no gore please) and the thoughts that maybe something does exist out there that we, as a whole, don’t really want to think about on a normal basis. Ghosts. Most of the time I’m quick to tell my kids there’s no such thing, but the real truth is—I believe in ghosts.
Sketpicism for me, at least about the idea of ghosts, disappeared when I was in high school and nearly seventeen. My grandfather had just passed away. We were all grieving, it’s true, but there is no way I can explain what happened at the funeral home other than the fact that I witnessed a real spirit.
My brother and I had gone to the basement level of the funeral home to escape the press of people there to see my grandfather off and more importantly, pay homage to my grandmother, the matriarch of the family (true, but that’s another story). The basement housed the private embalming areas and at that time, the coffee room. We were desperate for some hot coffee, these kind of events take a long time in my family.
As we walked into the room, a few other people walked out, leaving us alone in the basically empty room, save for a few chairs, a long leather couch and the table housing the coffee machine and the usual Styrofoam cups and paraphernalia.
We’d just begun to take a few sips, not saying much in the quiet room, when a strange noise sounded. I looked over and at the end of the couch, a large indentation slowly appeared, just as if someone was taking a seat.
Now, I didn’t get the feeling it was my grandfather, or anyone close to me, and I wasn’t particularly frightened. But I was definitely, absolutely freaked out. My brother and I looked at each other, and I could see from the expression on his face he had seen exactly what I had seen, and he said, “Okay then, time to go.” I agreed; we set our coffees down and went straight back up to the welcoming arms of the family. And never said a single thing about it to each other for years.
Tonight I’d love to offer a copy of my new short erotic paranormal romance in honor of Halloween—Working on Wicked.

With her luck on a downswing, and her lovelife non-existent, she decides to use the power of Halloween to grant her a night of pleasure in a fantasy lover’s arms—just the pick-me-up she needs. Too bad she never did learn to mix potions the way her granny had.So tell me, and get a chance to win Working on Wicked– Do you believe in ghosts?
Moving from New York to the small town feel of Salem had had its ups and downs but Barrett McAllister never expected to be greeted on the night of his move to his new home by a naked and willing witch. Not one to say no to the spirit of Halloween, Adam gives his sensual neighbor a night filled with treats she’ll never forget. But when the morning comes and she realized he’s really flesh and blood, it’s up to him to convince her that magic sometimes works in mysterious ways.
