A little bit before Thanksgiving, my husband (aka the sucker who can’t say no) had my daughter out at a store. I don’t remember which one and it doesn’t matter. She mentioned she wanted to do another gingerbread house like the one we did last year. The sucker bought a kit. Guess what happened then?
“I want to make the gingerbread house today? Can we make the gingerbread house today?” EVERY DAY until we caved and did it. I had no idea, but apparently my husband is a TOTAL ROOKIE. You don’t buy those things unless you intend to make them that very night. Is he not at all familiar with young children?
So yeah, that “incident” made me laugh. And so many things like that happen every year. We can still have Grandpa call and pretend to be Santa and she totally buys it. She stood on the driveway for a half-hour feeding my husband icicle lights to put up. Then, of course, she wanted to turn them on immediately, but it was the weekend before Thanksgiving, and since my husband is a bit of a Scrooge he won’t even consider turning them on until the weekend after Thanksgiving. But it was the last nice day we were going to have to put up lights, so we had to take advantage of it. At least that’s what I told my husband…
