Time Management: Juggling plates and I’ve already broken three

Publisher: Can you add another 15k to this story by the end of the week? *smash!*

Daughter: You said we’d go to lunch today. Why are you still on the computer? *crash!*

Job: We need you to go from part time to full time. *kaboom!*

So how does one juggle time trying to be a full time parent, floral designer, and writer? Answer? You can probably guess it… Very carefully!

I’ll give you an example of my typical day/week. Keep in mind; this might not be practical or even desirable for anyone else. I just know it works for me. Sorta.

Okay! Up at 7, shower, dress, and on the computer by 7:30.

7:30-9: Social networking, guest blogs, dealing with email. Yes, and playing too much on Facebook! If I’m very lucky maybe I’ll even having time for my WIP.

9-1: Breakfast, go to work and create with flowers. Then home for my half-hour lunch. *way too short!* Check email, answer comments on guests spots wherever they may be that day.

1:30-6p.m.: More playing with flowers. The shop is also a gift/coffee/book store so a lot of dealing with customers, also.

6-9: Home, visit with hubby *smile!*, dinner, family time, back on the computer by 9.

9-12a.m.: Writing guest blogs *like this one*, socializing, edits, writing on WIP!

I also have two days off during the week, Thursday and Sunday. This is definitely family time, errands, and when I do the bulk of my creative writing.

As you can see, a very full schedule and quite the balancing act. But more often than not, I’ll have a day like this one. I’m sitting here in my writing room *I finally have one!* looking out the picture window on a sunny day, fall colors in the trees and garden, and blogging about my newly released book. Sure, writing is hard work; no one said it would be otherwise. But there’s nothing I’d rather be doing, and when I receive that cover art for a new book in my inbox, it’s all been worth it.

Here’s to hoping you can find your own balance in life!

About the Author:
After growing up in California and spending the first ten years of marriage in Colorado, I now live in the beautiful Willamette Valley of Oregon with my incredibly patient husband, who puts up with the endless hours I spend hunched over the keyboard letting my characters play.

I have to say, Oregon’s raindrops are the perfect setting in which to write my slightly twisted tales. There’s something about being cooped up in the house while it pours rain outside, a fire crackles on the hearth inside, and a cup of hot coffee warms my hands which kindles my imagination.

Currently, I work as a floral designer in a locally-owned gift shop. Which is the perfect job for me. When not writing, I can express myself through the rich colors and textures of flowers and foliage.

Darkness is spreading in the world with only the powerful Agenor family to oppose it. In the guise of a stone gargoyle atop the castle walls, Adrian has protected Philip, the young heir, since birth, watching him grow from childhood into a strong but lonely man without love.

When the clan chief, Philip’s father, is murdered by those he trusted, Adrian resumes his human form to better protect his beloved Philip. And finds his love returned. As lovers, their passion is all-consuming, but as they fight against treachery from within, will their love be enough to stem the dark tide sweeping the land? And will it be enough to keep Adrian’s heart alive…
